It seems it is entirely possible, in this day and age, to miss your life completely- or at least the important parts of it. The world is clamoring with causes for us to espouse, information to absorb, news to keep up on, and the earth to save. Keeping the sanctity of our everyday lives and understanding the meaning in the mundane is increasingly challenging amidst the flashing lights.
It is my goal with this series of paintings to explore the beautiful moments of everyday life and share them with you. My hope is that you too will search for meaning hidden in the little things as you walk through the pictures of your own life. Each painting is representative of a spontaneous moment in time. The beauty occurring naturally right around me constantly inspires me and a keen awareness and appreciation for what is around me has eliminated the need for modeling or posing. Life is beautiful.
My paintings are done in oil with a heavy emphasis on values and composition. The subject matter is what I see in my daily life. I paint very directly starting with washes in oil gradually building form and light with thick paint. For me, the process of oil painting is just another way to help me focus on what's important and discover the larger meaning in the little things.
