Women Painters of the Southeast Annual Show

Reception: 4/20/20136 - 8:30 pm

Light and Shadow

Location: Central Brevard Art Association

In this class we will work on first sketching and then shading a variety of objects with a single, direct light source. The objects will range from simple spheres to more complex shapes such as a bust. Choose the objects you are excited about drawing and are most appropriate for your skill level. If you would just like to practice drawing without starting on the light and shadow that is fine – you can work on your drawing in class and are welcome to take photos to use for shading. Feel free to call 415 606 2692 with any questions or to sign up.

Head Painting

Location: Courtyard Studio

In this 2 day workshop you will learn the technique, planes and anatomy involved in accurately painting a head. For the first day I will do a demo and short lecture. In the next class the students will work on a painting of their own. This differs from portrait painting in that we will focus on the technical side of getting a head accurately on the canvas without the elements of formal portraiture such as props or indicating the subjects profession.

I will provide the reference materials.

Please bring:

artclectic

Location: University School of Nashville

Nashville Arts Magazine, October 2009, says "University School of Nashville presents its 13th annual artclectic Art Show, October 22–25, at 2000 Edgehill Avenue. One of the city’s most prominent art events, artclectic returns with an expanded format featuring more than 50 artists from the Southeast, a two-day special events program for kids, evening events, and several opportunities to meet artists, attend demonstrations, and participate in discussions with the artists."

Nashville Parent Magazine, October 2009, calls artclectic "the art event of the year!"

nFocus says "You may think you've enjoyed artclectic, University School of Nashville's fabulous art show/fundraiser in the past, but this year's event promises to knock your socks off."

StyleBlueprint says, "And the number #1 reason to go to Artclectic or the final reason, whichever way you read the list, is to consider how important art is to our world.  Art captures both the beautiful and the disturbing, sometimes in one breath, but ultimately art is created by real people with real inspiration. What a fantastic way to celebrate creativity, invention and beauty."
